Shawl Turned Shrug, Turned Tote Bag

So, I thought I would make a shawl but I got half way through and did not think the piece was wide enough for a shawl.  I then decided I would make it into a shrug.  Once I sewed the piece, I realised it was way to wide for a shrug so, I sewed up the bottom and added a handle to make it a tote bag.  My seam does not look all that great but, I have since learned how to do them better.  I am keeping this bag for myself.  Have you ever started making something and then ended up turning it into something else?

Our Anniversary

Our anniversary was yesterday.  We have been married 6 years.  My husband took me to Kay Jewelers and got me a new necklace.  I took him to Forever Leather and got him a new leather jacket.  The band that my husband works for had a show Saturday so we got to celebrate with friends Saturday night.  Sunday, we spent the day going from shop to shop looking for things we want to get when we get our taxes back then we went to dinner at Kirby's.

A Weekend Of Giving

This was a weekend of giving for the husband and me.  Thankfully, we had some extra money (his bonus from work and something we sold) to be able to help.

It started with our son Daniel.  He goes to college in Ohio.  He did not have the money to come home for spring break.  As there would be no one there, meals are not provided.  He would not have had any food.  Daniel also had a prescription he needed that the insurance wouldn't pay for.  Thankfully, my husband sold an item that we had been trying to sell since January.  We were able to send money to Daniel so he could get his prescription and have some food.

The second thing that happened was a memorial service.  My husband is the President of The Town of Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department.  One of the ladies of the auxillary passed away due to cancer.  The gathering was held at the firehouse.  My husband, our 2 children and I took care of getting everything set up and then cleaned up for the gathering.

And finally, our daughter and her husband just moved into a new apartment.  They spent every dime they had on the security deposit and first month's rent.  This left them with only gas money to get back and forth to work and no food in the house.  So, because my husband got a bonus, we were able to take them to get some groceries to last them until their next payday.

Being able to give gives you such a feeling of......I don't know how to explain it.  Maybe refreshed, ease, happiness.  Anyway, it felt really good to be able to help others in their time of need.
